R. Samuel Aaron Miller of Labova records in his approbation here, that Jewish persecution in Europe will soon cease, for they are the “Chevlei Mashiach” (birth-pangs of the Messiah). Born in Cracow, R. Menachem Mendel Kirschbaum (1896-1942) served as a Dayan in Frankfurt from 1927. In hiding in France during World War Two, he was seized by the Gestapo on Shabbos Shuvah 1942, and was taken to Auschwitz, where he was murdered.
