A letter of recommendation for R. Shimshon Heiman of Retsag, noting he is suitably qualified for a rabbinic post in Eretz Israel. One page, torn at right margin, taped.

R. Ya’akov Elimelech Paneth was the Admor of Dej, succeeding his father, R. Yechezkel Paneth (1870-1929), who served jointly as Rebbe alongside his brother R. Yitzchak Yechiel. R. Ya’akov Elimelech was killed in Auschwitz along with his family. Two volumes of his derashoth were posthumously published, entitled: Zichron Ya’akov (Brooklyn, 1953). R. Shimshon Heiman was the son-in-law of R. Menachem Mendel Sternberg of Dej, famed disciple of the Kesav Sofer and the first Admor of Dej, R. Menachem Mendel Paneth.
