Calling for an Asifa (spiritual gathering) of teachers, activists, and concerned individuals to be held at the Werner Beis-Medrash. One page. Folds, small central tear. 4to.

The purpose of the gathering is “Hisorerus,” to arouse a response to what was perceived to be a decaying spiritual environment. The letter is signed in autograph by twenty Torah scholars of Jerusalem, many of whom would emerge as leaders of the Yerushalmi community, especially <<Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv>> (1910-2012). The primary signatories are <<Rabbi Yisrael Yitzchak Reisman>> (1889-1969) and <<Rabbi Moshe Yair Weinstock >>(1900-82). Other signatories include <<Rabbis Mordechai Slonim, Ya’akov Katzenellenbogen, Avraham Halevi Horowitz, Ya’akov Meir Schechter, Shlomo Sobel, Aharon Katzenellenbogen, Shalom Schwadron, Eliyahu Zlotnick, Zalman Brizel, Alter Jabrov, Tzvi Michel Heller, Avraham Hakohen Roth, Shalom Eisen, Baruch Weinstock, Yeshayah Steinberger and Yosef Binyamin Rubin.>> The Werner Synagogue was named after Rabbi Simcha Bunim Werner (1867-1934), who established the Batei Werner section of Meah Shearim, Jerusalem.
