For many years, communities in Eretz Israel were sustained by “Kollelim,” which distributed funds raised in communities abroad, especially in Europe. Based on the locations of the donors listed in these documents (Skala, Premishlan, Snyatin, etc.), these pages would seem to be from a ledger of Kollel Galicia, which was established in the 1850’s. The documents provide an interesting window into the detailed finances of the Old Yishuv.
