Chief Rabbi Isaac Halevi Herzog (1888-1959), the second Aschkenazic Chief Rabbi of Eretz Israel, stood at the helm of World Jewry both during the Holocaust and the struggles leading up to the establishment of the State of Israel. Held in reverential respect by almost the entire spectrum of Jewry, Herzog was a man of immense scholarship and broad humanity. Chief Rabbi Herzog’s grandson is the current President of the State of Israel.
