Maimonides devotes an entire section of his Mishneh Torah to what he regards as a positive commandment “to know how to determine which is the first day of each month of the year.” Sepher Ibronoth was prepared by Beilin as a manual “to assist an individual fulfill these commandments.” The text actually incorporates several small works: Igul DeRabbi Nachshon (f. 8v.); Tekuphoth DeRabbi Yitzchak VeRabbi Shmuel (f. 20v.); and Sepher Ra'amim (ff. 26v.-27r).
