Two important works of responsa by R. Israel Isserlein (1390-1460). The title ‘Terumath Hadeshen’ alludes to the number of questions contained in the work, 354 (the numerical equivalent for the Hebrew word ‘Deshen’). The other volume, Pesakim U’Kethavim, contains 267 decisions focussed primarily on marriage law. It is maintained that most of the queries in these works were posed by the author himself (See Sha’ch to Yoreh De’ah 196:20). R. Isserlein’s responsa record much historical information regarding 15th-century Jewish-German life and customs, and were highly influential in the later standardization of Ashkenazic law by R. Moshe Isserles.
