<<First edition Penei Yehoshua - one of the most outstanding Talmudic works of the era of the Achronim.>> The author (1680-1756) had one of the sharpest Talmudic minds of his generation. He served as rabbi of Lvov after the passing of the Chacham Tzvi and eventually migrated westwards, acting as rabbi of major German-Jewish communities such as Berlin, Metz, Frankfurt and Worms. After being miraculously saved from the wreckage of an exploded building, R. Falk committed himself to writing a treatise of novellae, which developed into the four-part Pnei Yehoshua. <<The popularity of this work cannot be understated,>> it is learned intensely by Talmud scholars down to this day.
