He served as rabbi of Lvov after the passing of the Chacham Tzvi and eventually migrated westwards, acting as rabbi of major German-Jewish communities such as Berlin, Metz, Frankfurt and Worms. After being miraculously saved from the wreckage of an exploded building, R.
