(Grand Rebbe of Husiatyn, 1858-1949). Letter Signed on plain paper and stamped, written in Hebrew to Rabbi Shmuel Aharon Weber (Shazuri).

Requests communication be made with Yisrael Rokeach (1896-1959), the mayor of Tel Aviv, on behalf of the Rebbe’s nephew, T. Heschel, who recently arrived in Tel Aviv. One page. Two punch-holes, verso taped. 8vo.

A grandson of R. Yisrael of Ruzhin and son of R. Mordechai Shraga Feivel Friedman (1835-94) the first Husiatyner Rebbe, R. Yisroel succeeded his father’s position in Husiatyn before moving to Vienna upon the outbreak of WWI, along with the other Rebbes of Rizhin. In 1937 the Rebbe immigrated to Eretz Israel where he was considered the "elder" of the Rebbes of Rizhin. He is buried in Tiberias. The nephew referred to here, was the son of the Husiatyner Rebbe’s sister, Rebbetzin Gittel Heschel (1862-1933) and her husband R. Yitzchak Meir Heschel (1861-1935), the Kopishnitzer Rebbe. R. Shmuel Aharon Weber-Shazuri (1885-1980) was personal secretary to the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Eretz Israel, R. Yitzchak Herzog.
