Celebrated for his work photographing the pre-war life of Eastern European Jews, photomicroscopy was also a strong focus of Vishniac’s professional oeuvre. Indeed, he was a pioneer in the field, developing sophisticated techniques for photographing microscopic life forms. <<Provenance:>> From the collection of the late Prof. Thomas Sgorous. Sgorous and Vishniac were friends, and when Vishniac visited Sgorous at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, this photograph was presented.
