An early, detailed account of the functioning of Dachau, written by an unnamed Viennese Jew who was held captive there for five months. Upon his release, he found safety in England, but soon after, committed suicide. The introduction to his memoir notes that it will serve as “an accusation and an appeal from the grave, the grave of an Unknown Victim of Nazi Tyranny” (p. xv).
