The present work is a series of homilies on various Aggadic passages from the Talmud, interwoven with philosophical discussions seeking to serve as a defense of Maimonides’ reconciliation of Greek and Jewish philosophy. The author (d. 1492) was one of the last representatives of the Spanish-Jewish philosophic tradition and possessed a thorough command of the fields of knowledge of his time, his work here is rich in quotations from Greek and Arabic philosophical literature. See EJ, Vol. XIV, cols. 1270-1.
