Finding impracticable the recommendation of the Peel Commission (1937) that Palestine be partitioned into Arab and Jewish States, the British Government appoints here the Woodhead Commission (officially the Palestine Partition Commission) to propose a detailed partition scheme for Mandatory Palestine, including recommending the partition boundaries and examination of economic and financial aspects of the Peel Plan.
