Mordechai Aschkenazi entitled his work Eshel Avraham in tribute to his master, Abraham Rovigo, one of the leading students of Moses Zacuto. The author records that by studying this owrk of his, more of an understanding of the Zohar can be gained in three months than others have been able to acquire in as many years. The work carries the enthusiastic approbations of the great rabbis of the period including R. David Oppenheim of Prague. The Kabbalistic marginal notes, corrections and insertions of text are possibly in the hand of the author. Some of these insertions of additional text are to be found in the list of corrections on the final leaf.
