From: Jaillot’s Atlas Francois, Paris, 1700-24. One of a series of greatly enlarged maps published by Jaillot in collaboration with the heirs of William Sanson. Decorated with two fine cartouches - the title featuring figures of Moses and Aaron, a Roman soldier and a pagan figure beside the Ark of the Covenant. The smaller mileage-scale cartouche features God creating the animals.
