Vienna: 1896

Est: $1,000 - $1,500
The majority of the circumcisions recorded here were performed in various towns in Hungary, especially Budapest and Neupest. Other locations noted are Mattesdorf, Tereshke, Soldvar, Nadi Marosh, Gardony, Serentch, Diarmat, as well as the villages of Silish Maroth, Tolmatsh, Vodkert and others. This Mohel was apparently unusually dexterous as in some cases he served as both Sandak and Mohel. In most entries both the father’s first name and family name are written. Important for the genealogy of families in Hungary. Typical family names include Schonfeld, Goldschmidt, Herzfeld, Reider, Berkowitz, Farkowittz, Krasner, Lebowitz, Neiman, Jungreis, Wertheimer, Levinger and many others. The first leaf starts with the Mohel’s own child born in 1901.
