An unusual example of printing history in America - the only Megillah to have been issued in the Yiddish language. This scroll was issued with the Yiddish translation of the Book of Esther accomplished by the Yiddish poet and Bible translator Solomon Blumgarten, better know as “Yehoash” (1872-1927). The exacting calligraphy, combining modern and faux-archaic fonts in a style reminiscent of ancient Hebrew script, is the work of his daughter Evelyn (Chava) Yehoash Blumgarten.
