Hai Gaon reformulated the Kol Nidrei prayer, opposed as he was to the absolute annulment of vows on Yom Kippur Eve. The signatory, R. Benjamin Ze’ev (Wolf) Boskowitz (1740-1818) was the son of R. Samuel Kolin, the author of Machazith HaShekel. He was among the great rabbinic leaders of Hungary, serving as the first rabbi of Budapest.
