This is one of ten maps in Bünting’s Itinerarium Sacrae Scripturae, first published in 1581, in which the author, rewrote the Bible as an illustrated travel book. Other maps in the series attest to Bünting’s imaginative approach to cartography, in which he depicts the the world in the form of a cloverleaf, Europe as the Queen of the World, and Asia as a Pegasus.
