High Commissioner Sir Harold MacMichael (1882-1969) was the fifth and longest serving ranking authority representing the United Kingdom in the mandated territories of Palestine and Transjordan under the British Mandate for Palestine. Sir Michael served during the tumultuous war years of 1938-44. Thereafter he was posted to Malta and then the Malay Staes.
