One of the most important commentaries to Maimonides’s Code. Born in Salonika in 1545, di Boton commenced his commentary Lechem Mishnah while still in his youth. In 1575 he obtained a copy of R. Yoseph Karo’s Keseph Mishnah and from then on, included only those comments and analysis that had not already appeared in R. Karo’s work. See EJ, IV cols.1269-70.
