Rabbi Chaim Hirschenson (1857-1935) allowed his young daughters to accompany him from Constantinople to Basle (via London) to attend the Zionist Congress. Among the contributions to this album, much is made of the the girls fluency in spoken Hebrew. In later life, Tamar Hirschenson married David de Sola Pool, Rabbi of Cong. Shearith Israel, New York.
