Lieberman’s post-retirement career as a most original artist immediately blossomed just as soon as he first picked up a paint-brush at age 80 while resident in a senior retirement center in New York. Implementing a fanciful primitive technique, he utilized Judaism as his common subject matter. Here Hebron’s Tomb of the Patriarchs is juxtaposed with the electrifying colors and two-dimensional quality of the people the artist has chosen to portray.
