The author (1757-1828) was the son of the Kohznitzer Maggid (the Avodas Yisroel) and accompanied his father on visits to R. Elimelech of Lizhensk. On the recommendation of the Chozeh of Lublin he succeeded his father as the second Rebbe of Kohznitz in 1814.
