<<FIRST EDITION OF A CLASSIC CHASSIDIC TEXT. A RARE COMPLETE COPY.>> R. David Solomon Eybeschuetz (1755-1813), a disciple of the Maggid of Mezhritch, is most famous for this homiletic work on the Bible. Rabbi of Soroka (Moldavia), he settled in Eretz Israel 1809 and is buried in Safed. See Y. Alfasi, Traklinei Chassiduth, p. 929; Y. Raphael, Encyclopedia LeChassiduth, 533-35; N.Z. Friedmann, Otzar Harabanim 5214. The scholar Hayim Liberman proves that the present edition which does not indicate the place and year of publication is indeed the first edition. All later editions were severely censored. See Ohel Rachel, Vol. I pp. 372-73.
