RABINOWITZ-TE’OMIM, ELIAHU DAVID.

(The Adereth, 1843-1905).

Autograph Letter in Hebrew on letterhead (apparently his own copy, as the name of the recipient is blank and it is unsigned). Responsa concerning the planting in winter of “turmus” (lupine plant) between rows of grapes. The work is permitted to be done via a Gentile (preferably a child) if there is no grafting. Two pages.

The Adereth was Rosh Yeshiva of Mir, but in 1901 left Lithuania and emigrated to Jerusalem to serve as assistant to the aging Rabbi Shmuel Salant, Chief Rabbi of the Ashkenazi Perushim community.
