Large-format black-bordered order of service in Hebrew with facing translation in English. Afternoon prayer is followed by nine prescribed Psalms and a sermon. “The reader then impressively reads” select verses and a six-paragraph special prayer: “Death has come up into our chambers and hath taken away the delight of our eyes… Is thee any one among us but whose soul will weep in secret? … But our sins have brought all this about.” This, and much more like it, makes for a striking contrast with the London Times, viz: “There never was an individual less regretted by his fellow-creatures than this deceased king. What eye has wept for him? What heart has heaved one throb of unmercenary sorrow?”
