Emergency Appeal endorsed by the Vizhnitzer Rebbe to Jewish communities abroad for relief after the disastrous fire that nearly destroyed the town of Wiznitz in the Duchy of Bukowina, May 7th, 1866,. R. Menachem Mendel of Vizhnitz (1830-85), son-in-law of R. Israel of Ruzhin, was famed for his impassioned prayers. His teachings were collected posthumously in the volume "Tzemach Tzadik." See Y.
