Although little is known about our artist (who clearly displays great familiarity with the Land of Israel), the images here are reminiscent of the California School of Watercolor of the 1950's, capitalizing on varied geography, picturesque lanscapes and 'plein air' tradition. As seen in the California School, the watercolor brushwork in this album lends itself to suggest the soft breezes, fluid coastlines and natural sway of sailboats and palm trees. The minute canvas size combined with great attention to detail emphasizes our artist's particular talent. Images here range from the Biblical, such as Rachel's Tomb and the Western Wall, to the modern era, including Trumpeldor's Tomb and the Kibbutzim of the Jezreel Valley.
