AN HISTORICAL APPEAL TO THE DELEGATES OF THE SAN FRANCISCO CONFERENCE FOR THE RIGHTS OF THE JEWS IN ERETZ ISRAEL. The cover letter to the Agudath HaRabanim requests that his attached letter be delivered to the San Francisco Conference, other influential organizations and further publicized in the media. Rabbi Tzvi Pesach Frank was the most revered of Jerusalem's rabbis. He was appointed Dayan of the Eidah HaChareidis by R. Shmuel Salant in 1907 and it was his influence that garnered for Rav Kook the position of Aschkenazi Chief Rabbi of Eretz Israel. From the 25th April - 26th June, 1945, representatives of fifty countries met in San Francisco to draw up the Charter of what was to become the United Nations. Here, in movingly poetic language Chief Rabbi Frank addresses the San Francisco delegates imploring them to implement the vision of the Prophets and grant a just future for the Jewish Nation following the cataclysmic events of the Nazi Holocaust. He insists that unlimited emigration to Eretz Israel be granted, international legislation enacted to eradicate anti-Semitism and that all Jewish children hidden by Christians during the World War returned to the religion of their fathers. "The echo of the voice of the Rabbinate of the Holy City of Jerusalem reverberates with the cry of those who despair in our Nation… Only by returning… the Jewish Nation to the Land designated for them by the Creator of the World might there be some small compensation for the horrifying events of the Holocaust."
