“The object of the ITO [Jewish Territorial Organization] is to procure a territory...for those Jews who cannot or will not remain in the lands in which they at present live” (title-page). The Jewish Territorial Organization was the brainchild of the Anglo-Jewish novelist Israel Zangwill, who, although initially an ardent Zionist, grew impatient with the Zionist movement when it rejected the Uganda offer in 1905.
