Originally printed in Lyck, 1862, the Derishath Zion was an early call, from a traditional perspective, encouraging a practical and immediate Return to Zion. Both Rabbi Kalischer and Rabbi Friedland propounded the view that the Redemption will occur in two stages: The natural one - a return to the Land, followed by a Messianic era as a Supernatural event. This is the first edition with the additional material by Rabbi Frank. Also discussed here are Kalischer's views concerning the possibility of offering the Paschal Sacrifice (Korban Pesach) prior to the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem Tzvi Hirsch Kalischer (1795-1874) was a Rabbi of Thorn and disciple of Rabbi Akiva Eger and his mentor Rabbi Elijah of Greidetz.
