A shochet from Brighton, England, neatly penned a charming inscription on opening blank: "[I] Purchased [this book] in honor of my Creator, that I may be guided in the paths of righteousness in my holy work of Shechitah so that the Children of Israel may live and be nourished and thus my soul will be sustained. A devoted servant to the community of Brighton, Yehuda Leib ben Yissachar Parla Segal. Rosh Chodesh Menachem Av, 1829."
