This Hagadah, published under the auspices of the Sochnut HaYehudit and the Va'ad Le'umi LeKnesset Yisrael, in collaboration with the American Joint Distribution Committee, was for the benefit of Jewish “illegal” immigrants from Europe who had been intercepted by the British Navy and subsequently interned on the island of Cyprus. The British maintained a strict quota system in order to limit the numbers of Jewish immigrants to Eretz Israel. See M. Laub, Last Barrier to Freedom, Internment of Jewish Holocaust Survivors on Cyprus 1946-1949 (Berkeley, 1985)
