While still a young man, R. Jonathan Eybescheutz acquired renown for his enormous scholarship in the areas of Talmud and Kabbalah. While none of his works were published in his lifetime, his influence among contemporaries stemmed from his oratory skills and keen personality. Despite the varied aspersions cast upon Eybeschuetz by R. Jacob Emden, no dent to his reputation has been made to the the esteem in which he is held throughout traditional rabbinic circles
