The author (1795-1854) was the oldest son of R. Menachem Mendel of Kosov. He was maried to the celebrated Zipporah, renowned for her piety, of whom R. Israel of Ruzhyn was to proclaim “(she) is the most righteous person in the world" (see T. M. Rabinowicz, The Encyclopedia of Hasidism p. 164). This copy contains two leaves of addenda and corrections not recorded by either Vinograd or S. C. Porush, Encyclopedia LeChassiduth (1980) col. 596
