R. Shalom Eliezer Halberstam of Ratzfort (Ujfeherto), was the son of R. Chaim Sanzer (1797-1876) one of the greatest Chassidic leaders of his generation and author of the profound Halachic work, Divrei Chaim. R. Shalom Eliezer’s saintly life was brought to a shocking end when he was brutally killed by the Germans in Auschwitz, alongside his own son Meshullam-Zushye, while wrapped in a Kittel and Tallith.
