Unfortunately, few facts have survived concerning the biography of David Abudraham. His work, written in Seville in 1340, is considered by critical scholars an important repository of Spanish and Provencal traditions otherwise lost. Abudraham extensively utilized the prayer-book of Sa’adyah Gaon. There is some speculation that Abudarham was a disciple of R. Jacob ben Asher, author of the Turim, but this is inconclusive.
