FIRST HEBREW EDITION OF MACBETH In his learned Word to the Reader, Alexander Halevi Langbank of Jaroslav, Galicia, provides interesting historical backdrop to this enterprise, explaining that as there did not exist in Hebrew a dramatic tradition as in other languages, understandably, the first Hebrew plays were perforce translations from other literatures
