Composed for recitation by the Shomrim LaBoker society of the Usiglio Family Synagogue in the town of Modena, where Carmi served as Cantor. His piyutim display marked kabbalistic influences. The Aschkenazic societies of Shomerim LaBoker (“Watchers of the Dawn”) would recite hymns in the pre-dawn of Monday and Thursday mornings.
