Jessurun Cardozo, Secretary." Gans (Memorbook p. 315) provides a cameo portrait of Jacob van Raphaël Jessurun Cardozo (1792-1869), who was appointed Cantor of the Portuguese community in 1812, and continued to serve in that capacity until 1847.
