Emden alludes to many personal details of his life at the end of the introduction and on f. 102. of Vol. I where he also relates how a fire broke out in his home and destroyed portions of the manuscript of the present work. Rarely found, this copy contains an appendix of 2ff. Including a responsum on Shatnetz by the author’s son Meshulam Zalman, Rabbi of the Hambro Congregation of London, and a poem written by Emden in praise of his son with the acrostics "Meshulam and Yaavetz"
