The organization “Pekidim and Amarkalim” was founded in Amsterdam in 1809 by H. Lehren, A. Prins and S. Rubens, to disburse charitable funds to the Holy Land. See EJ, Vol. X. cols. 1584-5. The Hospital to be established was the celebrated Bikur Cholim.
