Members of the Segrè Family are mentioned in documentation in Chieri from the mid-16th century onward. They remained the most prominent Jewish family in this small Piedmontese town for centuries, producing several distinguished rabbis. The Jewish community of Chieri numbered no more than 150 members by the mid-19th century, and sometime in the twentieth century ceased to exist altogether.
