The “Great Jewish Manifest” of 1782. The history of Swedish Jewry commences relatively late. Jews were only permitted to settle in Sweden at the end of the eighteenth century. According to the terms of this manifest, Jews were allowed to take up permanent residence only in the cities of Stockholm, Göthenborg and Norrköping. See EJ, Vol. XV, col. 545
