The Author, Menachem Navarra of Verona, a graduate of the University of Padua and licensed to practice medicine, was a correspondent of R. Ezekiel Landau (see She’eloth u-Teshuvoth Noda bi-Yehudah (Lemberg, 1859), Part II, 32b). Navarra was a disciple of the elder Rabbi Pincherle and a friend of his son who served as a Dayan and assistant to his father. Navarra succeeded Pincherle as Rabbi of Verona. See C.
