An integral part of the work, as a seperate entity, is the complete text of the Passover Hagadah printed on 4 unnumberd leaves early in the volume. Unrecorded by Yudlov in his encyclopedic Thesaurus of Hagadah Editions. Born in Eretz Israel, R. Chaim Abulafia (c.1660-1744) served for most of his rabbinic career as Rabbi of Izmir. Subsequently in 1740, he settled in Tiberias, whiche was instrumental in re-establishing as a center of Jewish life. Abulafia was a prolific author; several of his works were published in Izmir between the years 1729-1737. According to the research of Prof. Isaiah Tishby, Abulafia exerted a profound influence upon the circle of Izmirli scholars who produced the anonymous work “Chemdath Yamim.” See EJ, Vol. II, cols. 187-188
