Ha-Ivri appeared from April 11, 1892 until July 29, 1898, and again from June 7, 1901 until Jan. 24, 1902. Included in this premier issue are the results of the U.S. census of 1890. Whereas in 1854 there were in the United States 97 Jewish congregations, in 1892 “there are in the land 533 congregations, with a total membership of 130,496 members.” The Orthodox maintained 316 congregations, the Reform, 217 congregations.
