Ben-Gurion congratulates Ben-Zvi (future President of the State of Israel, 1884-1963) on being appointed by High Commissionar of P alestine Sir Herbert Samuel to the Va’ad ha-Yo’atzim - the Palestine Advisory Council, a substitute for an elected representative body. Ben-Gurion also writes at length about plans to draft 500 men for the Jewish Legion (under the auspices of the British Army). He mentions the recent arrival in London of Shlomo Kaplansky to co-head the political bureau of Po’alei Zion B.G. closes on a personal note, informing his old friend of the birth six weeks earlier of his son Amos, who “promises to be strong as cedars. At birth his weight was eight pounds.”
