R. Seligmann Baer (Isaac Dov ha-Levi) Bamberger (1807-1878), or “the Würzburger Rav”, as he was known, was a leader of German Orthodoxy and author of many halachic works. He opposed the secessionist policies of R. Samson Raphael Hirsch
